Mt. Vernon, NY - The City of Mount Vernon will present a free seminar entitled “How To Become A Certified M/WBE” (Minority/Women-owned Business Enterprise), Wednesday, October 28, 2009, 6:00pm – 8:00pm at Mount Vernon City Hall, 1 Roosevelt Square, Memorial Room, Mount Vernon, NY.
The seminar is open to the public. The City is requiring call-ahead reservations to confirm attendance, due to limited space.
Participants will receive step-by-step instruction on the application process from confirmed speakers from Empire State Development Corporation and NYC Small Business Services.
This seminar comes as a follow-up to the Mayor’s on going outreach effort to identify local M/WBE.
September 2009, Mayor Young and the Mount Vernon City Council were pleased to announce it has taken initial steps in the development of its Minority and Women-Owned Business Development (“M/WBD”) program. The program is designed to ensue minority and women-owned firms a fair share opportunity in the redevelopment of Mount Vernon.
The M/WBD is committed to achieving Mayor Young's vision for increasing opportunity for the City Of Mount Vernon’s M/WBEs in the cities database and those yet to be certified.
