Kevin Plunkett Joins DDWWW Law Firm

Plunkett, a prominent Westchester attorney and litigator with an extensive background in commercial and estate litigation and governmental law, has joined one of the area’s premier law firms — DelBello Donnellan Weingarten Wise & Wiederkehr LLP (DDWWW)—as a partner.

A practicing attorney for more than 25 years, he was previously a partner in the firm Thacher Proffitt in White Plains.

The addition of Mr. Plunkett to White Plains-based DDWWW further strengthens its presence as a leading regional firm serving Westchester and the Hudson Valley.  With nearly 40 attorneys, DDWWW is one of the top five largest firms based in Westchester and its client roster includes many of the leading companies and individuals in the fields of real estate, development and other high-profile businesses and organizations.

Mr. Plunkett has represented numerous government entities as legal counsel and has served as special counsel to numerous public sector clients on major litigation cases. Currently, he serves as Village Attorney for Dobbs Ferry and as Corporation Counsel for the City of Rye.  He has also served a wide range of corporate and private clients on significant commercial and construction cases.

In his new position, Mr. Plunkett will serve as a member of the Commercial Litigation and Government Relations practice groups. He brings to DDWWW expertise in commercial, civil, estate and construction knowledge as well as in-depth knowledge of land use, administrative and governmental law.

In addition to his legal work, Mr. Plunkett is heavily involved in both civic and environmental organizations.  On a state level he is Chairman of the Greenway Conservancy for the Hudson River Valley and is a board member of the New York State Thruway Authority and the Taconic State Park, Recreation and Historic Preservation Commission.

In Westchester, he is a member of the board of the Westchester ARC Foundation and the Board of Visitors of the Pace University School of Law.  He has been or is currently a director of the following: Tappan Zee Real Estate Investment Trust, Union State Bank, the Tarrytown and North Tarrytown Savings and Loan and Tappan Zee Financial.  He is a Trustee of the Westchester Arts Council and Iona College and an Advisory Member of Teatown Lake Reservation.

 Mr. Plunkett brings with him two associates from his prior firm. As members of the Commercial Litigation practice group, they will represent clients in all aspects of land use, municipal, environmental and commercial litigation.

Mr. Plunkett earned his B.A. degree from the College of Holy Cross and his J.D. Degree from Stetson University College of Law. He served as Assistant District Attorney in the Felony Trial Bureau of the Westchester District Attorney’s Office. From 1979 to 2000, he was a partner of the law firm of Plunkett & Jaffe, P.C. and concentrated on complex civil litigation and governmental law matters. From 1971 to 1977, he served in the U.S. Army National Guard.
Mr. Plunkett is a member of Governor Spitzer’s Second Department Judicial Screening Committee and was chairman of that committee from1997 to 2006 during Governor Pataki’s Administration. From 1988 to 1997, he was a member of the Character and Fitness Committee of the Second Judicial Department of the Ninth Judicial District.

He has lectured widely and has served as a panelist on seminars focused on redevelopment law and land use disputes.

He and his wife, Rosemary, live in Tarrytown and are the parents of five children and a granddaughter.
