Mt. Vernon, NY - The Mount Vernon Youth Bureau will have an orientation for prospective students of the Summer Entrepreneurship Program this evening, April 1st, 6 – 8 p.m., at City Hall.
Applications for the program will be available as of Wednesday both at City Hall and at the Westchester Community College Extension Center on Gramatan Avenue.
Mayor Clinton Young has made the young people of Mount Vernon a priority for his administration, and says that this is a great opportunity for high school students to get a taste of the real world of making your own business work.
“I urge any and all young men and women interested to apply to this great program,” said Mayor Young. “An entrepreneur is someone who takes advantage of every opportunity to reach for success…this program can be your first opportunity. Please take it.”
The Entrepreneurship Summer Academy is a joint project of the Mount Vernon Youth Bureau, The National Foundation for Teaching Entrepreneurship, and Westchester Community College. The Academy’s six-week paid program introduces youth ages 15-17 to basic principles of business planning and management. The program includes an award-winning curriculum, exposure to a college environment, field trips, guest speakers, and a concluding business plan competition.
If you have any further questions please contact the Youth Bureau at (914) 665-2344.
