 White Plains, NY - How often is it that local business owners can rub shoulders with overseas delegates from as far away as China, Korea, Japan, Australia and the UK and perhaps drum up some more opportunities for themselves?
That’s what the showcase event at the 9th Annual Global Digital City Network Conference is all about. On Oct. 27, Westchester and overseas business delegates will have the opportunity to exhibit their products and services during peak times of the international event being hosted at the Hilton Rye Town in Rye Brook.
The conference event, which also includes a number of seminars and presentations related to technology issues and global markets, is an opportunity for local knowledge-based vendors and other invited guests to assemble with others from around the world and hear from leaders within government and business industries.
As the Network’s first U.S. member, Westchester is honored to host this year’s event and hopes it will lead to new partnerships and collaboration, while generating additional commercial opportunities for all participating firms. Because the program also includes a discussion on security solutions and best practices, vendors focusing on security-related products and services are especially encouraged to attend.
“This is a great way for firms interested in global trade to get exposure to some potential markets and see if this is something they should pursue,” said County Executive Andy Spano. “Some of these cities may not be the first to come to mind when you think global business but that’s exactly why this conference will be so educational.”

The Global Digital City Network (GDCN) is a multi-lateral city network initiated in 2000 by the city of Kakamigahara in Japan and the city of Chuncheon in Korea. The network increases the global competitiveness of its members and creates an effective environment for sharing information, resources, technology and research to generate new business opportunities in knowledge-based sectors. The county officially joined the GDCN at last year’s conference in Dundee, Scotland. Other members include Dalian, Jilin, Shenyang and Yanji (China); Dubai (United Arab Emirates); Dundee (Scotland); Gold Coast (Australia); Inuyama City (Japan); and Nizhny Novgorod (Russia).
